If you haven't seen "The Woman in Black" starring Daniel Radcliffe, and you enjoy a good old fashioned gothic ghosts story, I HIGHLY recommend you see it asap. This movie is not just creepy, with some serious "jumps" to boot, but is a visual feast. Of course I could not help but "miniaturize" everything I was seeing. The set design is mind blowing and really gives inspiration and great ideas for gothic dollhouse interiors. here are some random pictures I found on the net to give you a taste.
You almost don't even notice the woman in the shadows at the end of the hall. I love the pillar accents along the wall.
Too bad this picture is so small. The entry to the mansion is deliciously unwelcoming!
Seriously icky clown. When was the last time you saw teeth on a clown doll? Ew....
Creepy dolls? Check. Cobwebs? Check. Corpse in a sheet on the bed? Check. All the requirements for a proper gothic childrens room....
eeek, how eerie....gave me goosebumps, you so have to get this feel in your house, and im sure you will, thanks for sharing these, i have pinched them for the day i hopefully can start on my own haunted mansion lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, the movie scared me harder than any film I have seen in the last 10 years and I see almost every horror film that comes out so that is saying something! The atmosphere is just so thick with dread and sorrow. I can't say enough about it. The set design was so creepy it really gave me some great ideas!
DeleteMy inner miniaturest has wanted to see this since I saw the trailers on tv! The scardy cat in me wants to run away immediately!!! (wouldn't the addams family be ashamed of me lol) (PS - I am working on an Addams family mansion - that is why I said that haha) -Ara
ReplyDeleteYes they would be! Shame on you! As Morticia would say "Those who are afraid to look into the darkness are those who are afraid to look into themselves...". I just made that up but it sounds about right. Ha ha. Seriously, you should see the movie. Maybe if you are focusing on all of the deliciously creepy elements as potential miniature accents you won't be so scared. Just don't see it alone. Or in the dark. Or during a rainstorm. You can do it. I believe in you ;-)
