I think I am going to use this method here for the roof shingles for Garth Manor as opposed to making them from clay. GREAT tutorial. Check it out if you have not already. I have never used egg cartons for shingles, just bricks and stones for pathways, but this tutorial inspired me to give it a try.

If you have used this method before, let me know how it worked for you and if you have any tips, even better! Forwarned is forarmed!
Hi, hope you had a nice time camping, for the ivy I would use clay leaf cutters for realism, time consuming but great to color them up... also I love love love the egg carton idea for roof shingles.... Im going with that also I think...
ReplyDeleteCamping was great. I've recovered from my sunburn, and I am ready to continue on the house. Thanks for the tip on the ivy. I think I have it figured out. Just need to do some trial pieces to see. Yes, those shingles on the tutorial looked great so I am going to give it a shot as well. Just need to finish the other bits first!

PS tut on dead trees also, scroll down for the graveyard :)
I have seen this site before. Thanks for pointing it out and thinking of me! You are the best!
DeleteI have learned alot over the years from other scale model builders and this tutorial is great!
I am still mentally debating on how to incorporate a grave into the scene. I had originally wanted to do a small family plot, then changed my mind to a crypt. Now I am just figuring out how to place a crypt on the amount of space I will have available. Decisions decisions. I need to get to Home Depot to pick up some blu-foam and plywood so I can lay out the landscaping and get the layout planned. That open grave in the tutorial is just so tempting....
